S.H. Figuarts Ultraman Series Concept Introduction Video Streamed

The official Bandai Japan YouTube channel posted the S.H. Figuarts Ultraman Series Concept Introduction, in which we learned how a S.H. Figuarts Ultraman figure is made. 
In the video, we learned that Bandai worked closely with Tsuburaya's official molding team, LSS (Light Sculpture Studio) in developing the figure. The video demonstrates the process in making the S.H. Figuarts Ultraman Geed Primitive from its initial stages to the final design of the figure that is released to the public. 

The video also advertised the S.H. Figuarts Ultraman Geed Royal Mega Master figure, which is set for a July release.

Mitsubishi Electric Unleashes Its Hero, Kamen Reito Shun!

Mitsubishi Electric has unveiled its latest hero, Kamen Reito Shun to promote their line of refrigerators! 
The video stars Yoshihiko Aramaki (The Prince of Tennis Musicals) as the titular hero with the name referencing the word "reito", which means "freezing" or "refrigeration." In the video, Kamen Reito Shun fights Hieeza (played by Dragon Ball's Ryusei Nakao) who wreaks havoc among Japanese housewives by harshly freezing groceries, destroying the freshness of the items. 

Kamen Reito Shun attacks the monster with various attacks that are features of real life refrigerators!

Kamen Rider Build the Movie: Kamen Rider Terra Revealed

New toy catalog scans has surfaced online revealing the Kamen Rider that will debut in the upcoming Kamen Rider Build summer film!
This new Kamen Rider is Kamen Rider Terra, one of the few Martians that survived after its destruction thanks to the power of the Pandora Box. His job was to guard the Pandora Box from those who planned to steal it... only to fail after an astronaut took said box and brought it back to Earth. Terra arrives on our planet to reclaim the box, causing him to fight the Kamen Riders. 
Unlike the Kamen Riders of Earth, he is equipped with the Pandora Driver, which requires two items for the transformation, a Relic Bottle and a Cap. A Relic Bottle is a primitive form of the modern Full Bottle. So powerful that its power cannot be contained without the Cap. Kamen Rider Terra has four Relic Bottles and its respective Cap, the Jaguar, Eagle, Raven, and Bahamut, giving him different forms and abilities. 

His default form is the Kamen Rider Terra Jaguar Form, in which he inserts the Jaguar Relic Bottle and the Jaguar Cap in the Pandora Driver. This will announce "Kassei kara no chosoku dasher! Terra Jaguar!" which translates as "The high-speed dasher from Mars! Terra Jaguar!" Inserting a different Cap with a different Relic Bottle will cause an error message that says, "Baka-tare! Saba Jane-e!", which translates as "You fool! No dice!" before playing an explosion sound effect.

Before the Ganglers stole the Lupin Collection, some pieces of the Collection went missing before that. The thieves receive a tip from Kogure who head towards a young woman. This woman is the famous French designer Emma Golddini. Emma has come to Japan for a jewelry exhibition, and the pendant she's wearing could be from the Lupin Collection! The phantom thieves are about to intercept, when a Gangler suddenly appears. Are they also after her pendant?! A battle to protect Emma starts to break out!

6th Mobile Suit Gundam the Origin Film Confirmed to Conclude Project

The staff of the Mobile Suit Gundam the Origin VI: Rise of the Red Comet anime film confirmed that the film will conclude the said anime project. 
As reported, the anime will also conclude the anime project's Loum Arc. In addition, the project's chief director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko previously stated that he wanted to cover the One Year War Arc next as seen in the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime, but clarified that there is no official word yet... until now.

The film will focus on the young Char Aznable and how he earned his nickname, the Red Comet. In addition, we see the beginnings of the Federation's Project V weapons project and the eventual birth of the RX-78-2 Gundam, officially tying in back to the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime series. 

Mobile Suit Gundam the Origin VI: Rise of the Red Comet is set to premiere on May 5th in Japan.

Past Super Sentai Villains to Appear in Kyuranger vs. Space Squad Film!

Toei announced that four past Super Sentai villains will make a return in the upcoming Uchu Sentai Kyuranger vs. Space Squad film!
Originally announced as an April Fool's joke for a show called "Super Sentai Villains", which is set for an April 1, 2099 release, the joke trailer revealed that Yuka Hirata (Gekiranger's Mele), Mitsuru Karahashi (Shinkenger's Juuzo Fuwa), Kei Hosogai (Gokaiger's Basco ta Jolokia), and Ayame Misaki (Go-Busters' Escape), will reprise their villanous in Kyuranger vs. Space Squad!
These four Super Sentai villains were revived by Space Ninja Demosuto, an enemy of Sekai Ninja Sen Jiraiya. He revived these villains using the power of the Neo Kyutama, which was stolen by Kyuranger's Hammie/Chameleon Green. That being said, Space Squad members Shaider and Jiraiya are in pursuit to fight this villain. The bigger question is what other villains will he revive and lead to the Kyurangers? That is for us to find out!

Uchu Sentai Kyuranger vs. Space Squad takes place 4 years after the events of the TV series, the universe is at peace. But that changed when Hammie/Chameleon Green attacked the Rebellion and stole the newly developed Neo Kyutama! Fearing its possible misused once it falls into the wrong hands, Space Federation President Tsurugi Ohtori/Houou Soldier has declared Hammie wanted all across the universe. Lucky/Shishi Red and some of the Kyurangers believe in Hammie fought against Tsurugi's decision, causing a rift amongst the Kyurangers. 

The film is written by Uchu Sentai Kyuranger head writer Nobuhiro Mori and directed by Koichi Sakamoto, who previously directed the previous two installments of the Space Squad franchise. The film is set for an August 8th release on Blu-ray and DVD and will also get a limited theatrical run in June.

FLCL: Alternative Anime's First Episode Features Tokusatsu References

To the surprise of many, the first episode of the third season of the FLCL anime, FLCL: Alternative aired on Toonami on April Fool's Day subbed in English. 
The episode aired subbed in English with Japanese audio. But that is not the part we are focusing on, but the fact that the first episode of this season featured some tokusatsu references! For starters, the character Haruko Haruhara carries a parody version of Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger's SP License. But that's not all, one of the characters references Kamen Rider Fourze's catchphrase, "Uchuu kiita!!!", which usually translates as "Space, here we come!" or "It's space time!", depending on who is fansubbing it. 

FLCL: Alternative is scheduled to premiere in Adult Swim's Toonami block in September. The second season, FLCL: Progressive is set to premiere on June 2nd at 11:30pm.

Happy April Fool's 2018!

Let's put it this way, Kamen Rider Terra is this year's April Fool's joke. Some of you already figured it out, while some, took a while to figure it. Anyway, here's the breakdown on how the joke was made. 
A few weeks ago, Garage Hero's Bueno sent me a private message on Facebook with a suit from Mamoru Heroes asking if we should make a prank based on the suit. The suit looks cool but it has a problem, it doesn't have a gimmicky belt. So he added the belt from China's Armor Hero Captor series. He then showed me the belts of the series, since they got this tube things as part of their transformation, they look like believable Full Bottles, thus making this fake Kamen Rider a good movie-only Kamen Rider. 

Now for the back story, I wrote all of it. Bueno had some input (he gave the Rider name and the name of his forms), but for the most part, I wrote the back story for this character. Finally, to tie it all up, the clues to those who still haven't figure it out that it is an April Fool's joke. This is where the belt noises comes in, I wanted to have a belt sound effect that that screams, "Hey kids! This is an April Fool's Joke!" This is when Bueno gave me this line, "Baka-tare! Saba Jane-e!"
This line is a reference from Choukou Senshi Changéríon, a show that starred Takashi Hagino, best known to most fans as Kamen Rider Ryuki's Takeshi Asakura/Kamen Rider Ouja and was written by infamous Kamen Rider writer Toshiki Inoue. The show was pretty much Heisei Kamen Rider before Heisei Kamen Rider existed. 

Anyway, "Baka-tare! Saba Jane-e!" or "Not a mackerel!" was a line from one of the episodes that gained quite a memetic status similar to the Kamen Rider Blade ONDUL memes. Heck, said joke was referenced in the Kamen Rider Brave special! Because only a few people might have heard of said joke, we decided that it's the perfect clue. So yeah, that's basically the breakdown of this year's April Fool's Joke. 

Now for some real news. Changéríon was fully subbed by Big Nova Subs since December, you can watch the entirety of Armor Hero Captor on YouTube, and lastly, Toei's Super Sentai Villains was the April Fool's Joke, but not past villains appearing in Uchu Sentai Kyuranger vs. Space Squad. Also, Kamen Rider Kuuga is the best Heisei Kamen Rider series, people should watch more tokusatsu outside of what Toei is producing every year, and finally, many people should give Ultraman a chance.

Baki-Dou Manga to End this April

It was revealed at the 18th issue of this year's Weekly Shonen Champion magazine that the Baki-Dou manga will end in the next issue, which is set for an April 5th release. 
In addition, it was also announced that the same issue will also have an "important announcement". 

The fourth installment of Keisuke Itagaki's Baki manga, the manga takes place after Baki's epic confrontation against his father. Baki continues to fight and train nonstop, but he always has to suppress his yawn caused by the overbearing boredom. But this changes thanks to plans of cloning Miyamoto Musashi, one of the fathers of Japanese martial arts. Another fight of historical proportions awaits Baki.

Mahiro Takasugi to Star in The World's Longest Photograph Film

It was announced that actor Mahiro Takasugi (Kamen Rider Gaim, Kakegurui) will star in The World's Longest Photograph film. 
Based on Tetsuya Honda's novel of the same name, Takasugi plays the role of Hironobu Naito, a young student who discovered a camera at his grandfather's recycle shop. This camera has the ability to take long panoramic photos. Thanks to this, Hironobu's dull life starts to get exciting. 

Also part of the film's cast are: Rina Takeda (Kamen Rider Amazons) as Atsuko Takenaka, Reina Kurosaki (Kamen Rider Ex-Aid) as Erika Ando, Honoka Matsumoto (Aozora Yell) as Nanae Miyoshi, Hisashi Yoshizawa (BraveStorm) as Kenichi Miyamoto, Masaru Mizuno (High & Low) as Tomoya Koide, and Masao Komatsu (20th Century Boys 2: The Last Hope) as Yoshiro Takenaka. 

Written and directed by Shogo Kusano (Mogera Wogura), The World's Longest Photograph is set for a June 23rd release in Japan.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue 27 Cover Gets An Update

In an interview with SyFy, the folks behind the Power Rangers: Shattered Grid comic book crossover talked about what happened at issue 25. But that is not we are going to focus here, we are going to focus on one updated cover. 
In the same article, we got some art from the said crossover, including the covers for issues 26 and 27, a better look at the new GraveZord, and more shots of the Ranger Slayer. Keen eyed fans may have noticed that the cover of the comic's 27th issue had an update. In the original solicited cover, the Mighty Morphin Red Ranger is in his standard suit, but in the updated cover, we see the the Red Ranger wear the Green Ranger's Dragon Shield! Fans who have read the 25th issue will have an idea on why Jason is wearing Tommy's shield. 

In the 27th issue, Lord Drakkon's power and influence grows, as the Power Rangers work with new allies from across time and dimensions, including Ranger teams such as Time Force, RPM, and Samurai, to craft a plan to fight back. But is it already too late? This issue is set for a May release.

Soul of Chogokin GX-79 Voltes V FULL ACTION Revealed

Bandai Tamashii Nations has unveiled the Soul of Chogokin GX-79 Choudenji Machine Voltes V FULL ACTION figure from the Voltes V anime series. 
Unlike other the entries of Bandai's Soul of Chogokin line, the new Soul of Chogokin FULL ACTION line removes the transformation and combination aspect of the line and replaces it with a revolutionary articulation system, giving birth to this new line. In this line, you can pose your favorite giant robots in dynamic fashion that was once impossible for the line. Other Super Robots that are teased for the line are: Combattler V, Daimos, Daitarn 3, and Zambot 3.

The first entry of the line is the Soul of Chogokin GX-79 Choudenji Machine Voltes V, which stands 180mm tall and comes with the Ultra Electromagnetic Whip (x2), Ultra Electromagnetic Top (x2), Chain Knuckle (x2), Gatling Missile (x2), Grand Fire, Voltes Bazooka, Tenkuken/Laser Sword, a set of interchangeable hands, and a special pedestal. 

The Soul of Chogokin GX-79 Choudenji Machine Voltes V FULL ACTION cost 15,120 yen and is set for an August release.

Yokusaru Shibata's New Kamen Rider Manga Announced

It was announced that manga creator Yokusaru Shibata (Air Master) will start a new series titled "Toujima Tanzaburo Wants To Be A Kamen Rider" in Monthly Comic Magazine HERO'S.
The upcoming manga will feature a new Kamen Rider named Kamen Rider Love. In this series, we meet Toujima Tanzaburo, a 40-year-old man who wants to become a Kamen Rider since he was a child. He discovers that Shocker has appeared and his destiny will change forever...

Toujima Tanzaburo Wants To Be A Kamen Rider will begin its serialization starting with the magazine's June 2018 issue.

Lupinranger vs. Patranger: DX Scissors & Blade Dial Fighters Official Images Revealed

Bandai posted the official images of the VS Vehicle Series DX Scissors Dial Fighter & Blade Dial Fighter from the Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger vs. Keisatsu Sentai Patranger TV series. 
Unlike previous DX Dial Fighters, the DX Blade Dial Fighter can dock on top of the DX Scissors Dial Fighter. Turning the dial of the DX Scissors Dial Fighter will activateits attack mode. In addition, both items are compatible with the DX VS Changer (sold separately) and inserting them in said item will activate their own unique sounds. Finally, these two can combine with the DX Lupin Kaiser (sold separately) to form the Lupin Kaiser Knight! 

The VS Vehicle Series DX Scissors Dial Fighter & Blade Dial Fighter cost 1,800 yen and is set for an April 21th release.

Kamen Rider Build: DX Cross-Z Magma Knuckle Official Images Revealed

Bandai posted the official images of the Transformation Dragon Fist DX Cross-Z Magma Knuckle from the Kamen Rider Build TV series. 
To transform, Banjou inserts the DX Dragon Magma Full Bottle in the DX Cross-Z Magma Knuckle in the Knuckle's slot, insert it to the DX Build Driver (sold separately), and finally, crank the lever to transform into Kamen Rider Cross-Z Magma! Cranking the lever again will activate the finishing lights and sound effects! Lastly, on its own, you can press the logo found at the middle of the Knuckle for various attack and finisher sound effects. 

The DX Cross-Z Magma Knuckle cost 3,600 yen and is set for an April 21st release.

Bandai posted the official images of the Ultra Action Figure Ultraman Orb: Orb Origin from the Ultraman Orb TV series. 
The latest figure of the Ultra Action Figure line and the second Ultraman Orb figure for said line, this new Ultraman Orb has 17 points of articulation, allowing fans to recreate a lot of Orb's iconic and deadly poses and action shots! This figure cost 2,000 yen and is set for an April 28th release. The first Ultraman Orb figure in this line was for his Spacium Zeperion form.

Bandai posted the official images of the DX SaiDryer Full Bottle Set from the Kamen Rider Build TV series.
This Full Bottle set includes two Full Bottles, the Sai (Rhino) and Dryer Full Bottles. With these two Full Bottles set in the DX Build Driver (sold separately) and cranking the lever, Kamen Rider Build transforms into Kamen Rider Build SaiDryer Form! 

The DX SaiDryer Full Bottle Set cost 900 yen and is set for an April 21st release.

Bandai posted the official images of the Ultra Action Figure Ultraman Tiga from the Ultraman Tiga TV series. 
The latest figure of the Ultra Action Figure line, this new Ultraman Tiga figure has 17 points of articulation, allowing fans to recreate a lot of Tiga's iconic and deadly poses and action shots! This figure cost 2,000 yen and is set for an April 28th release.

My Hero Academia THE MOVIE Teaser Trailer Revealed

Toho Movie's official YouTube channel posted the teaser trailer for the upcoming My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: The Two Heroes film. The teaser trailer gives us a glimpse of a young All Might.
The film will take place overseas on a giant manmade floating moveable city called I Island. As for its timeline, it takes place after the Final Exam Arc and during "another summer" during the Forest Training Arc. Lastly, the film will also feature All-Might's younger days. 

​Series creator Kohei Horikoshi is credited with the original work, character designs, and as chief supervisor. In addition, the staff of the TV anime series will return to work on the project as well and that includes director Kenji Nagasaki, scriptwriter Yousuke Kuroda, character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi, and composer Yuuki Hayashi with studio BONES animating the project.

My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: The Two Heroes is set for an August 3rd release with Toho distributing the film in Japanese theatres.
